Typesetting and Data Manipulation
The typesetting department prepares data for both printing and electronic product delivery whether this be PDF, XML, SGML, or other formats.
Typesetters, Printers and Binders
From a 'small and simple' infrequent publication where each page is best crafted by hand to the 'batch pagination' approach commonly associated with high volumes of data requiring a fully automated workflow, Henry Ling Ltd delivers.

All data is handled using the latest 'best-of-breed' applications, allowing us to process a diverse range of customer requests. One aspect of our approach which sets us apart from our competitors is our ability to fine-tune our working methods to dove-tail with those of our customers, rather than expecting them to conform with us.
Composition Applications
Typesetting jobs are carried out using one of the following applications, dependent upon suitability:

   XML Professional Publisher
   Adobe InDesign
   QuarkXPress
Input Data
We accept data transmitted electronically by email attachment or to our ftp site or as files on disc or as hard copy. We can also interface with your content management systems. We can accept most text input formats including RTF, XML, XLS (Excel), CSV, SGML and tagged ASCII. For graphics specification see additional information.

Industry-standard applications like Quark Express and Adobe InDesign are used for hand-crafting pages, whilst for high-volume work, something we regard as our forte, we have XML Professional Publisher (XPP).
XML Professional Publisher (XPP)
XPP is an enterprise and workgroup publishing solution providing high-speed automated page composition. It has good programming connectivity allowing it to work with multiple input/output formats and it supports XML/SGML with a throughput beyond that of other publishing applications. With its roots in the Technical, Defence & Aerospace, Legal, Financial, Catalogue/Directory and STM journal markets, XPP has true a pedigree.

Where we stay ahead of the field is the way we use XPP as the core of a completely automated production system. This provides seamless integration of tailor-made multiple input/output conversions, and also delivery to multiple output formats. A real advantage for high-volume time-critical projects. To facilitate this we can offer advice on setting up your content to reduce overall costs.
Data Conversion
Omnimark OMDN
Perl

A continuing part of the department's remit is the conversion of data, whether as part of a 'seamless background' input routine or an alternative output format. We have much experience with data conversions and the tools to write and run them.
